The speeches of the
President Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation and Terrorism
|
CIRET-AVT was founded in July 2003 by Ladies Anne-Marie Lizin Senator of Belgium, Saida Benhabiles, a former Algerian minister and Mr Yves Bonnet, former director of the DST, the French honorary prefect. Were also among the founding members Messrs. Luis Matute, Argentine diplomat, Timothy Brown, American diplomat, Jean-Paul Ney, a journalist and Alexandre Cirilovic student. The purpose of CIRET-AVT was and remains the study of all problems related to terrorism, its causes, developments, its consequences, in any open literature on the subject. In fact, it seemed to its founders that the information held, used and disseminated on the subject or directed to insiders or were not subject to cruel treatment. But terrorism has become a social phenomenon which may involve or relate to any citizen at any time, any place and be subject to different treatments or different depending on the country or periods. The "specialists" to the question that often have imperfect knowledge of objective facts, situations, people involved, and the opinions they express are often subjective or commitment in highly sensitive area. The AVT-CIRET has the ambition to make available accurate data, cut according to a strict ethics and updated in this vast area. Accordingly, it directs its activities in three complementary directions: 1. the provision of documentation maintained on facts related to terrorism or violent forms of action that could be classified as resistance; 2. deepening of the criteria for qualification of the facts; 3. dialogue and confrontation of ideas, knowledge and opinions. It should be noted that there is absolutely no question of interfering in the sovereign domain of security, still less to encroach on the functions of services. The AVT-CIRET considers only that the citizen has the right to honest information, comprehensive and accessible and would like to contribute to this site. |
